Lesson #34

Walking as a Child of God

Walking as a Child of God. Separated Living.

Upon our confession of faith in Him God implants His Spirit into our lives. He expects us to begin life and our lifestyle anew and to please Him in all that we say and do. We must then separate ourselves from those things, places, and people that would hinder our growth and testimony in our new found life in Jesus Christ.

    Focus:

Read: I Thessalonians 4:1-2Christians should know how to walk. As
members of God?s family we need to daily live as the children of God.
Colossians 1:9-14Christians should have a worthy walk. We
are saved by the Lord to walk in His way and will. To know Jesus Christ is to seek to walk worthy unto all pleasing in a walk that is steadfast and consistently fruitful in the strength of the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
I Thessalonians 2:11-13Christians walk worthy of God. They
should not listen to the word of men but to the Word of God. Our walk as God?s family members is according to the Word of God which gives us power to walk effectively for Him.
Ephesians 4:1-3Christians urged to walk worthy of God.
We are not only family members of the Father, but we are told to walk worthy of the family membership, being guided by the Word of God and being consistent and fruitful in our walk by the power of His Holy Spirit. We are also asked that we determined, individually, to walk as a Christian in such a way that His love might be manifested among the brethren as well as others.
Ephesians 5:8Christians walk as children of light. We are
to reflect the light of Christ as we walk in this world.

Question: What do you believe is the composite meaning of the verses just studied?

    Personal Response:

    Explain:
How should these verses affect us as Christians in our daily lives?

Scripture Assurance: II Corinthians 6:14 -7:1 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
